(Buffalo, NY) –YMCA Buffalo Niagara is teaming up with FeedMore WNY to help fight hunger and food insecurity this holiday season.
The community is encouraged to drop off non-perishable food donations at any local YMCA branch throughout the month of November. YMCA Turkey Trot participants are also urged to drop off non-perishable donations when picking up their race packets between November 20-22 at the Independent Health Family Branch YMCA (150 Tech Drive, Amherst). Donation bins will also be available on race day, November 23 at the Delaware Family YMCA and inside the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.
"Unfortunately, thousands of Western New Yorkers of all ages continue to experience food insecurity. Last year alone, FeedMore WNY provided nutritious food and support to 197,500 individuals throughout Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie and Niagara counties. Events like the YMCA Buffalo Niagara’s annual holiday food drive make it possible for FeedMore WNY to continue to serve our neighbors in need. We are so grateful for the continued partnership of YMCA Buffalo Niagara and the Western New York community,” Tara A. Ellis, president and CEO of FeedMore WNY, said.
“YMCA Buffalo Niagara is proud to work alongside FeedMore WNY to ensure all in our community have equitable access to healthy food,” said Danielle Roberts, YMCA Vice President of Community Impact. “Over the last 12 years, supporters of our annual food drive have collectively contributed over 35,000 pounds of food to support FeedMore’s important mission. We are hopeful to be able to grow that number considerably with the community’s generous support.”
