(Buffalo, NY) – For the twelfth straight year, YMCA Buffalo Niagara is teaming up with FeedMore WNY to help fight hunger this holiday season.

The community is asked to drop off non-perishable food items to any local YMCA branch during the month of November. YMCA Turkey Trot participants can also drop off non-perishable donations during packet pick-up November 21-23 at the Independent Health Family Branch YMCA (150 Tech Drive, Amherst). Donation bins will also be available on race day, November 24 at the Delaware Family YMCA and inside the Buffalo Niagara Convention Center.

“We deeply appreciate the YMCA Buffalo Niagara, WGRZ-TV Channel 2 and the Western New York community for helping FeedMore WNY provide nourishing meals and support to our neighbors in need through this important food drive,” Tara A. Ellis, president and CEO of FeedMore WNY, said. “One in 8 people in Western New York is facing food insecurity. Events like the YMCA Turkey Trot food drive help put food in the hands and homes of our most vulnerable community members.”

“YMCA Buffalo Niagara is proud to work alongside FeedMore WNY to ensure all families have equitable access to ample, nutritious foods” says Mario Hicks, Vice President of Financial Development for YMCA Buffalo Niagara. “We appreciate the many who have supported our annual Food Drive, collectively providing nearly 35,000 pounds of food to support FeedMore Western New York’s important work over the last eleven years. We are hopeful that the community will help us provide an abundance of meals for area families again this holiday season.”
