What is the Heritage Society?
The Heritage Society is a special group of individuals and families who have committed to the stability and prosperity of the YMCA beyond their lifetime. Members have made a promise to ensure that our programs are always available for those who need them most.
Please see below for a range of gift options for you to consider as you make your estate and gift planning decisions. Each option provides unique benefits to you, as well as YMCA Buffalo Niagara.
Bequest in Your Will
A gift in your will or living trust lets you make a meaningful gift with ease and be flexible in your commitment. You can give cash, specific property, a percentage of your estate, with or without restrictions.
Life Insurance Beneficiary
A gift of life insurance can be a viable and generous donation to the YMCA. Naming the YMCA as your primary beneficiary allows you to keep ownership of the policy for the duration of your lifetime.
Qualified Retirement Plan Beneficiary
Making the YMCA your retirement beneficiary is a great option for your retirement plan assets. When naming the YMCA as the primary beneficiary, you eliminate all federal income and estate taxes.
Charitable Remainder Trust
With a charitable remainder trust, your beneficiary would receive a fixed dollar amount each year after your life or for up to 20 years from assets placed in the trust. At the end of the term, the balance goes to the YMCA, enabling countless other members to benefit from your generosity.
