YMCA Buffalo Niagara to Host Annual Healthy Kids Day®
(Buffalo, NY) -- Following a year of social distancing, virtual school, mask wearing, and endless hours of screen time, YMCA Buffalo Niagara is hosting its annual Healthy Kids Day® at its branches on Saturday, May 15 from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm encouraging families to take a moment to help kids be kids. This free event aims to provide a carefree day for children, celebrating what makes a kid, a healthy kid.
The event will feature activities such as games, healthy cooking demonstrations, arts and crafts, and more to motivate and teach families how to develop and maintain healthy routines at home.
“As adults, we know that 2020 was difficult on so many levels—it’s important to remind ourselves that as much as we try to protect our kids from worry, they faced many of those same difficulties,” says Penny Snell, YMCA Buffalo Niagara’s Vice President of Youth Development and Program Quality. “As communities continue to reopen, the Y is here for families, helping kids recover both physically and mentally from a stress-filled year.”
All in-person activities require pre-registration and will be socially distanced, following all CDC and state health and safety guidelines. Virtual events will also be posted on Facebook. For more information and to register, please visit YMCABN.org or stop by your nearest YMCA branch.
Healthy Kids Day® is made possible thanks to the generous support of our partner, WellNow Urgent Care.
